Your wedding day is one of the best days of your life, but the honeymoon is even better! It is the perfect way to relax after the stress of planning a wedding. Just you and your sweetie, spending quality time together as a married couple and making memories that will last a lifetime. While a honeymoon is awesome for the bride and groom, many couples often forget they are not the only people on the planet. You might feel like there is no one else in the world but your new spouse, but this can cause majorly awkward moments between you and other people. From hotel staff to other travelers, you might be acting super annoying without even realizing it!

There are so many ways to be a rude tourist, but that list increases tenfold when you are feeling loved up. Keep in mind that not everyone wants to see your PDA! If you don't want to seem rude and irritating to everyone around you, avoid doing these things on your honeymoon trip. You can still have a great time with your sweetheart without bothering anyone else! Keep reading for 22 embarrassing things couples often do on their honeymoon!

22 22. Too Much PDA

Perhaps the biggest offense honeymooners make is too many public displays of affection. It makes sense that you want to cuddle and kiss—you did just get married, after all! However, keep in mind that there are other people around you, especially if you are in a busy tourist destination. Little kids don't need to see you biting your spouse's ear or rolling around with each other on the beach. You are married now, so you really have nothing to prove. Save these kinds of activities for your hotel room and everyone will have a better vacation because of it!

21 21. Tell Everyone That It's Their Honeymoon

Nothing is more annoying than someone bragging about their special occasion. It's obnoxious and makes things awkward because people think they should do something special for you. When couples go around telling everyone they meet that they are on their honeymoon, it's kind of tacky. If a waiter asks if you are out for an occasion, you can obviously tell them, but announcing your honeymoon unprompted is kind of rude. Again, you have nothing to prove! Just enjoy celebrating with each other and stop trying to brag about your recent nuptials. Didn't you get enough congratulations and presents on your wedding day?

20 20. Act Clingy

It's natural to want to spend lots of time with your new spouse on your honeymoon. But when you are so clingy that you won't leave each others' sides for one second, it gets super annoying for other travelers. For example, walking hand-in-hand on crowded sidewalks and refusing to move aside for other walkers is just plain rude. And if you get seated in separate rows for a short flight or train ride? Just let it go! You will see enough of each other on your long vacation together. No one will think you love each other less if you stop touching each other for a minute.

19 19. Fight In Public

On the opposite end of the spectrum from too much, PDA is public fighting. Couples who fight in public are cringey all the time, but seeing honeymooners do it is just awkward and sad for everyone around you. There could be any number of reasons couples may fight on their honeymoon. Someone forgot to pack something important, they were late and missed a dinner reservation, they are too drunk and feeling combative, the list goes on and on. If you do have a spat on your honeymoon vacation, keep it classy and resolve it in the privacy of your hotel room.

18 17. Forget About Hotel Maids

When you are snuggled up with your sweetie, it's easy to lose track of time. Time slips away when you are in each others' arms. However, you have to make sure you hang that "do not disturb" sign on your hotel room door! Getting caught in the buff by the hotel maids is embarrassing for both parties. All it takes is a few quick seconds to post the sign on the door to help you avoid getting caught in an awkward situation. Also, please remember to slip on some robes or pajamas before answering the door for the room service delivery guy!

17 16. Try To Score Free Stuff

As I mentioned above, telling everyone you come in contact with that you are on your honeymoon can get super annoying. But some couples take it up another notch. Trying to score freebies and discounts on everything you do puts staff in an awkward position. On the one hand, it doesn't hurt to ask for things. You might be surprised how many places will give you a free dessert or a comped drink. However, trying to get free things everywhere you go is tacky, especially if the place is super fancy or you are in another country.

16 15. Bring Family Or Friends Along

This is a practice I will never, ever understand. The entire point of your honeymoon is to get away from it all and spend quality time with just your new spouse. You spent plenty of time with your friends and family at your wedding. Why do they need to tag along on your vacation, too? Not having privacy can really kill the entire mood of the honeymoon, even if it's your closet friends who are traveling with you. Plus trying to plan activities for tons of people is stressful. Leave your loved ones at home for a change and focus on your sweetie!

15 14. Refuse To Adapt To Local Culture

A honeymoon is a once-in-a-lifetime vacation. For that reason, many couples choose to go to a far-away, exotic location that they probably wouldn't normally visit. In fact, it may be the first time some couples venture outside of their home countries. This certainly helps you make lifelong memories, but remember to be culturally sensitive if you honeymoon in another country. Respect the local cultural norms, try new foods, and try to blend in. There is a reason that the stereotype of loud North Americans exists in other parts of the world! At worst you will get looks from locals and at worst you could get arrested.

14 13. Spend Tons Of Money

Spending a lot of money is pretty par for the course when it comes to weddings. Add in a long trip halfway around the world for the honeymoon and you have another couple thousand dollars gone. You would think that all of those expenses would make people be frugal with their spending while on their honeymoon trip. But you'd be wrong. Tons of couples take the whole once-in-a-lifetime thing a little too seriously and spend frivolously while on their vacation. They eat at the finest restaurants and buy loads of souvenirs. You need to build up your savings if you want to do this!

13 12. Stay In Weird Hotels

Your honeymoon is the perfect time to try new things. Getting out of your comfort zone will help you and your sweetheart bond and build extra special memories of your trip together. While that means extreme sports or new cuisines to some, other honeymooners choose unique accommodations as the thrilling part of their vacation. Before you book a yurt or a room at an ice hotel, remember that with an interesting hotel comes unique situations. You may end up hating it! Sometimes it's safer to just book a normal room at a nice hotel and let your activities entertain you instead.

12 11. Forget To Sleep

When you are on your honeymoon, it can be hard to remember to sleep. There is so much to see and do! Food and drinks to enjoy, sights to see, activities to partake in, and, of course, spending time together in the bedroom. While you don't want to miss out on any potential memories, burning out on your honeymoon is no fun, either. Even if you can't get up late or go to bed early, plan to nap during the hottest part of the afternoon to catch up on sleep. You and your sweetie will be much more energized and enjoy each other more!

11 10. Bring Work With Them

Bringing work along on any vacation is a huge no-no. But planning to work on your honeymoon is simply unforgivable! Even if you know you will be spending hours and hours on a plane or in an airport, take your honeymoon complete off. Everyone needs time to decompress after the excitement and stress of the wedding. You have your whole life to work, but enjoying your new spouse when you are first married can help build a lifelong bond! Turn off your email notifications, ignore phone calls from your boss, and focus your attention on your sweetheart instead.

10 9. Over Plan Or Under Plan

Creating an itinerary for a trip is honestly the hardest part. You don't want to be bored or scrambling figuring out things to do when you get there. At the same time, being overscheduled is tiring and not relaxing or fun at all! To strike the perfect balance on your honeymoon, make sure that your spouse, not the tourist sites, are the main focus of the trip. Spending quality time together is what really counts! Seeing a couple who looks bored on their honeymoon or who seems like they could fall asleep standing up is a shame.

9 8. Get Hurt Or Sick

Of all the disasters travelers fear while on a trip, getting injured or sick is near the top of the list. When you don't feel well, you just want to relax and recover in the comfort of your own home. But when you're on vacation, you have to deal with lots of problems. Your insurance might not be accepted, the quality of doctors may not be the same, and it puts a major damper on the honeymoon mood. While accidents are unavoidable, do your best to keep illness at bay. Bring medicines from home if you can.

8 7. Run Out Of Money

Another major problem travelers sometimes experience is running out of money. Can you imagine if this happened on your honeymoon? With the way that some couples spend without care on their sweethearts' vacation, it happens often. One minute you are popping bottles of expensive champagne in your luxury hotel room, the next you are out on the streets. That is why setting a honeymoon budget before you leave is so important! While treating yourself can make the trip extra fun, having no bank balance is not. A honeymoon should be a vacation to remember, but for good reasons!

7 6. Make A Scene When Things Aren't Perfect

When couples get married, they assume it will be their one and only wedding. That is why so many brides and grooms freak out if every detail of their big day does not go according to plan. A honeymoon is the same way. Couples want to make their honeymoon magical and perfect, but sometimes life doesn’t happen that way! And when you make a scene if something goes awry, it makes everything worse. You will embarrass yourself in front of other travelers and sear the bad memories into your brain. A honeymoon should be relaxing, so roll with whatever happens!

6 5. Take Too Many Photos

Snapping pictures is the best way to record the fun you have on your honeymoon. You can look back at them later to help you reminisce on all the awesome memories. However, many honeymooners take photos anywhere and everywhere on their vacation, which can cause problems. For instance, there are some places where it isn't respectful to take a selfie, like at some religious sites or burial grounds. Grabbing your selfie stick can also hinder other people from seeing the site. You may even hit someone with it! Sometimes the memories in your brain are better than photos anyway!

5 4. Get Lost

Nothing can put a damper on a vacation faster than getting lost. During a honeymoon, that is an extra source of stress that you definitely don't need! You think you can navigate the subway system in another language or drive some scenic roads and suddenly you have no clue how to get back to your hotel. While normally I would encourage travelers to go off the beaten path, honeymooners should stay close to their hotel. Or at least be really good at reading a map! There are plenty of fun things you and your new spouse can do where you won't get lost.

4 3. Travel For Too Long

You love your new spouse more than anything. That's why you married them! But spending 24 hours a day with anyone, even the person you adore the most, can get to be too much after awhile. Many couples plan honeymoons that last for weeks so they can really enjoy their first taste of married life. However, being on the go for that long is draining. You will both start to feel burnt out, which can make your trip go from romantic to angry in a hurry. Shorter honeymoons let you spend quality time together without making you tired or sick of each other!

3 2. Forget To Pack Essentials

I get it. You are in such a hurry to pack for your honeymoon that it's easy to forget things. This is especially true if you leave right after your wedding. But forgetting to pack essential items can make or break your trip. Depending on where you are headed, you may not be able to purchase some items when you get there! Even worse than forgetting toiletries or clothing that you need, leaving behind attraction tickets or medicines can have a huge negative impact on your honeymoon. Even if you're exhausted, triple check your bags before you leave!
