For the past little while, the tiny house movement has been becoming more and more popular. According to The Tiny Life, these homes are around 400 square feet. Whether you've chosen to downsize and live in a super small place or your apartment isn't that big, you can probably relate to having to be intentional about where you put things and how you live. Maybe you're in a studio apartment so your living space is all in one, and you've learned to be okay with your kitchen being right next to your couch and TV.

There's something cozy and peaceful about living in a tiny home and knowing exactly where everything is. There's not a lot of room to put tons of stuff, so you learn to be minimalist. But then there are small spaces that aren't that attractive.

Here are 20 tiniest living spaces that people actually live in.

20 This Woman's Living Room, Kitchen, And Bedroom Are All In The Same Area

While this space is definitely small, there's something about it that looks comfortable, right? This woman has a cute couch, a bookshelf with a ladder, and a kitchen area. While having everything in the same room might be tough to get used to, we have to admit that this is pretty charming.

19 The Bedroom Is Literally Above The Kitchen

The cool thing about looking at photos of tiny living spaces is seeing how inventive and artistic people can get. Someone decided to literally build a sleeping space on top of the kitchen and main living area. It may be tiny, but it's really clean, and there's even a lot of counter space.

18 This Wooden Home Is Super Cute... But Super Small

We're super impressed by the use of space here. There's a tiny bathroom, a galley kitchen complete with a kitchen table, and then stairs leading up to the sleeping area.

The wood makes it really adorable. But... it's really small. This might not be everyone's cup of tea, especially if you get claustrophobic easily.

17 Yup, That's Actually Someone's Apartment

Now, this is something that you don't see every day: a small living space that looks like it's all shelves and cupboards.

We understand wanting to be compact, and if you're into the minimalist lifestyle and love the color white, this would totally be the tiny living space for you.

16 NYC Has Small Spaces But This Brooklyn One Takes The Cake

New York City is famous for having the tiniest apartments around. People will rent a studio for tons of money and they won't even get a proper bathroom or real kitchen.

We would have to say that this particular small living space is the most interesting of them all. This couple actually sleeps above their TV area, which has convenient shelves for their DVDs and other electronics.

15 That's One Messy (Tiny) Room

This is not only an incredibly small living space but it's very messy, too. There's a sleeping area on the floor, a small table, some shelves, some hanging clothes, and then tons of stuff basically everywhere. There are a lot of small spaces around the world that look like this.

14 This Person Actually Lives On A Bus

We've heard of RVs but living on what looks like an actual bus is something new.

This bus may be kind of long but it's definitely a really tiny living space since it doesn't look like there's much room to stand up or move around in. The idea of living on a bus is a little depressing, right?!

13 This New York Space Is 100 Square Feet

100 square feet isn't exactly a typical apartment size. If you live in a place that's around 600 square feet, you might feel like you're in cramped quarters.

Seeing this space might change your mind and you might suddenly feel like you live in a palace. This place is so tiny there isn't even a real bathroom or kitchen.

12 Well, That's Compact

This tiny living space is fascinating as whoever designed it decided to put two benches in the eating area. The blue color is super eye-catching and makes this a really nice space.

Again, if you're even a little claustrophobic, this might be a little much for you. It's adorable, though.

11 What Is Even Happening Here?!

This apartment is definitely missing a lot of things: a clean floor, a kitchen counter (well, besides that tiny corner that no person could even use), and a bathroom. That's a shower stall right next to the stove. We don't even want to know who designed this. We have a lot of questions.

10 There's Barely Even Room For The Bed

This tiny home has tiny plants and lots of wood, which makes it really aesthetically pleasing. This is what tiny home goals are made of, for sure. It does look like it's so small that the bed barely even fits, though, and you would be lying pretty close to the ceiling...

9 It's Like Living In A Tiny Treehouse

When you were a kid, did you dream of having a treehouse that was so cool and magical that you could actually live in it? This is totally the kind of treehouse that kids want to be real.

Well, it does exist, and this is the photo of it. That's definitely a really tiny kitchen.

8 This L.A. Apartment Is Impossibly Tiny

This might be the smallest living space on the list. This is an apartment in L.A. that is essentially just a bed with some shelves on one wall.

The view is nice, the green is cheerful, and it's cool that there's a huge window, but this is definitely pretty intense.

7 That's A Lot Of Wood

One rule of having a tiny living space seems to be putting your bed above the rest of the space. While we get in theory, in reality it can seem a little hard to get used to.

This tiny house has a lot of wood. It's hard to imagine not getting tons of splinters if you stayed here too long.

6 The Green Is Pretty But It's Still Super Small

We're feeling pretty torn at this particular place. On the one hand, it's got a lot of pretty green, and that really livens up the space. On the other hand, you would be living in one room, and a tiny room at that. It's tough to imagine that this would be sustainable.

5 That's Quite The Set-Up

Even if the tiny house thing isn't for us and we dream of having a huge house or apartment, we can't help but be amazed by what people will do to such small spaces.

Everything has its place here, and while we might not want to climb up that ladder just to go to bed every single night, we can appreciate how pretty it looks.

4 Yup, That's An Apartment

At first glance, this is a closet. A tiny closet that wouldn't work for most people if they have a lot of clothes. But no... this is a place someone lives. We don't even know how that is physically possible. It looks like you would get stuck trying to even get up onto that bunk bed.

3 This Looks A Bit Claustrophobic

When you first look at this photo of a tiny living space, it looks great. It's got an old-fashioned Victorian house kind of vibe, and the bedspread and rug are adorable.

But then... there's something about the angle of the ceiling that makes you feel a little dizzy. And you wonder if you would feel too closed in if you stayed in here for a while.

2 Well, It's Kind Of Cozy...

Of all the tiny living spaces on this list, we'd have to say that this one just might be the coziest. It's not gross like the apartment with a shower in the kitchen (although kitchen is a generous term). It's not too narrow like living on a bus.

It's cute and comfortable, even if it does still look really small.

1 Yikes

Now that is a really, really small living space, one of the smallest on the list. It's making us nervous just looking at it. It looks like you would have just enough room to squeeze onto the bed and then you would feel super stuck.

How do we feel about our own small apartments now?!
