Flight attendants have to be excellent at dealing with people. In addition to carrying out all the duties under their responsibility during the flight, they have to make sure that all their passengers are comfortable and happy.

One of the most important parts of their job—when there’s no emergency, of course—is being polite. But some passengers would make that task really difficult!

There are probably a whole bunch of less-than-polite things that flight attendants wish they could say to passengers... The problem is, they're too polite (and probably care about their jobs too much) to reveal their innermost thoughts.

They’re not all kind, but they are all true. Check them out below!

20 “Stop Sneaking On So Much Extra Luggage”

Twitter

Sneaking on extra luggage might be a lifesaver for passengers trying to avoid overweight baggage fees, but it’s probably a nightmare for flight attendants. There are luggage limits for a reason! And when people sneak more on, it just complicates things.

19 “No One Wants To See Your Bare Feet”

Travel + Leisure

It’s not only flight attendants who are secretly thinking this! Some people see nothing wrong with putting their bare feet wherever they can on a plane. The truth is that nobody wants to see anybody else’s bare feet. Especially not up on a plane seat.

18 “Are You Seriously Not Wearing Shoes To The Restroom?”

Cosmopolitan

The flight attendants are definitely judging people who don’t wear shoes to the restroom. Fair enough that you want to take your shoes off during the flight, but it’s a good idea to put them back on before you go to the restroom. That’s not water on the ground.

17 “How Hard Is It To Wear Deodorant?”

CNN.com

Flight attendants would definitely be thinking this to themselves! Really, how hard is it to wear deodorant? Especially when you’re going on a plane and you know you’re going to be in close proximity to other people for a long amount of time.

16 “Stop Hogging The Arm Rests”

Money Versed

Flight attendants probably think this on behalf of the poor passengers who are squished by people who hog the armrests. Everyone knows the rules. The window and aisle seats get one armrest and the middle seat gets the two on either side of them. It’s only fair.

15 “Would It Kill You To Use Manners?”

Confessions of a Trolley Doll

Some people can be so rude to flight attendants. There’s just no need for it! If you’ve ever talked to a flight attendant like they’re beneath you and totally forgotten to use manners, you can probably bet your bottom dollar they’ve thought this about you.

14 “You Don’t Need To Recline On Such A Short Flight”

CNN.com

The reclining debate has divided travelers for years. While you’re never going to stop people from reclining on a long flight, it can become seriously annoying during a shorter flight. Can you really not sit in a chair for an hour without needing to cramp the person behind you?

13 “Please Stop Snoring”

Business Insider

In all fairness, people have no control over whether or not they snore. But that doesn’t mean a flight attendant isn’t silently praying that any loud passengers stop snoring, especially if they’re bothering people around them during an overnight flight.

12 “Haven’t You Had Enough To Drink?”

Business Insider

If there’s one thing flight attendants probably hate more than anything else, it’s passengers who have had too much to drink. They can become unruly and obnoxious, and can even start breaking the rules. They just add to every flight attendant’s stress.

11 “The Seatbelt Light Is On For A Reason”

Stuff Co

It must be irritating to have to tell people over and over again to return to their seats and put their seatbelts on. If the seatbelt light is on, then there’s a good reason behind that. It’s not like they put it on for fun to torment people!

10 “Please Don’t Throw Up In Front Of Me”

New York Post

This is something that nobody ever wants to see. Of course, you can’t help it if you’re prone to motion sickness. Still, flight attendants are probably secretly praying that you don’t throw up in front of them. Not that they’d be mad at you if you did!

9 “Don’t Walk Up The Aisle When I’m Serving Food”

Today Show

We’ve all seen those awkward situations when people try to move up the aisles even though the crew are serving food and pushing the trolley. They can’t move their huge trolley out of the way, so the onus falls on the passenger to see that they’re coming and move.

8 “There Are All These Other Passengers—Stop Hogging The Bathroom”

Insider

It’s definitely annoying when people feel like they can hog the bathroom on a plane. Now, an emergency situation is fair enough. But when people spend ages in the bathroom just for fun, it creates lines of traffic for no reason.

7 “Stay In Your Assigned Seat!”

Refinery29

Even if the flight is not full, most flight attendants prefer people to stay in their assigned seats. It makes everything easier. If the passengers try to move around and even move between classes without permission, it becomes a huge annoyance. Don’t be Annie from Bridesmaids.

6 “Pay Attention While I Give The Safety Demonstration”

Pinterest

Flight attendants are probably bored out of their minds while giving the standard safety demonstration because they’ve done it a million times. But they prefer you to be watching attentively, just in case you haven’t seen it a million times and don’t know what to do.

5 “I Can Totally See That Your Phone Is Still On”

Worldation

At one point or another, we’ve all kept our phones on during a flight when we’re not supposed to. Either because we’ve forgotten to turn them off or because we think it doesn’t actually make a difference. But it does make a difference. And most of the time, the crew can see that people have their phones on!

4 “I Don’t Really Care That You Don’t Like The Food”

Business Insider

No one is saying that plane food is amazing. But some passengers feel the need to tell the crew that they don’t like the food. There’s not much point in this because, one, that’s the only food available, and two, the crew probably don’t care whether you like it or not.

3 “Of Course We Can’t Upgrade You To First Class!”

The New York Times

We are advocates of always asking if upgrades are available. You never know if you don’t ask! But at the same time, flight attendants probably just want to scream at us that, of course, we can’t have a free upgrade. That won’t stop us from asking, but at least we’re aware!

2 “The Airline Makes The Rules, Not Me”

Flickr

Flight attendants are in contact with the passengers, which means they often deal with most of the complaints about the airline. This would get annoying pretty quickly, considering they just work there and don’t actually make the rules. That’s why arguing with them is so pointless!

1 “No, We’re Not There Yet”

Decider

Yes, there are still people out there who ask the crew how long it’s going to be until they arrive at their destination. And yes, this would definitely still drive the crew crazy. Now, most airlines have screens that can show you that information. Besides, asking won’t make the time pass any quicker!
