Some people love their job and look forward to going to work every day. Others dread it, and they are not afraid to share their experiences. The internet has made it very easy for people to share their experiences with just about anything in the world.

That is because they can do it behind a screen, anonymously. That is exactly what all these employees of British Airways (BA) did, and they did not hold back. They left reviews on how they felt about their past (and current) employer, and it reads as a bit of a warning to anyone filling out an application form.

BA is one of the more popular airline companies, and the employees are not just the ones who work on a plane. They are employees from warehouses, travel agents and those who work in call centers. They all have their own experience, but there are a lot of common trends about the problems working for this company.

20 Everything Is Poor

“Won’t go back to this station EVER. Management is poor! Needs to have respect in order to receive respect. Ridiculous! No room for growth.”

We all want respect where we work, and we all hope to grow in our company and organization, but it looks like BA doesn’t offer much of either.

19 Doesn’t Care Much

“Good benefits. The company doesn’t seem to care much for its employees. Pay is minimum, but benefits are there to offset.”

It looks like if all you care about are good benefits then this would be the best company for you to work for. If you want to be treated nicely, you might want to try a different airline.

18 Not A Lot Of Money

“If you don’t need to earn decent money, don’t mind being messed about with your work times and enjoy being blamed for things you haven’t done then this is the career for you!”

I wonder what happened to this employee to make him/her sound so bitter about BA. The rising trend does seem to be that they do not pay well.

17 A Real Decline

“There has been a real decline in how enjoyable this job is in recent years. Such is the blame culture here now that if a customer writes in that the cabin crew is too fat it affects your bonuses… ridiculous!”

Now we are apparently seeing some body-shaming going on, which is just downright bullying.

16 “Like Working For A Dictator”

“The saving grace was that it was a union job. Like working for a dictator. Too demanding, high-stress environment with poor incentives. Main focus was not on employees or customers. Not a good company to work for.”

Treating employees bad is one thing, but customers should always be valued or you won’t be a business much longer.

15 One Of The Best?

“This is one of the best companies I have ever worked for. The job was very interesting and fun. On the downside, the pay was minimal compared to the job performed.”

It seems like this person actually liked their job, they just wish that it paid more. However, don’t we all wish that about our jobs?

14 No Room For Improvement

“Not good salary and lifestyle and benefits, no room for improvement and likely need to spend years to move to the next position. I would recommend it for students only.”

While this person may not have liked the job, they do seem to understand that it may be a good starting point for a student or someone just drifting through.

13 Very Stressful

“British Airways Cargo is a good place to start. It gives a good glimpse into how fast-paced work experience can be. Due to a lot of rules and regulations, the job can get very stressful.”

Working for BA is about a lot more than just working on the plane, there are a lot of different offices and warehouses. Maybe people need to just find the right spot for them.

12 Was Just Horrible

“Management was just horrible and did not know how to do anything right, only made things worse, never really helped. They need a manager that knows what they are doing.”

It also seems like a trend is that management does not really work well with their staff. If you have poor leadership, it can make even the best job unbearable.

11 I Learned A Lot

“It was a fun job, I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, management was very disorganized which caused undue stress for all of the agents.”

This one seemed to start out with promise and then the word manager came up again and that is when it all went downhill. Looks like the company really needs to look at their leadership team.

10 Training Is Limited

“The hardest part of the job is that there has been so much turnover, so training has been limited and I’m flying by the seat of my pants most days.”

Training is vital for any job, and proper training. If an employee is not trained properly, it can add a lot of stress. It can also cause a person to get into trouble for making mistakes that they didn’t even know they were making.

9 Ouch …

“Management should be more professional, and staff should know more English. Uniforms should be less ugly and pay rate should be higher.”

We understand that the pay probably should be higher, given the number of complaints about the poor salary. However, I don’t think diversity or uniforms qualify as reasonable problems with a company.

8 Great Team, But That’s About It

“Great team, love my co-workers. Unfortunately, there is no room for advancement and no benefits. Full time not available. Sometimes necessary to work late if weather has delayed a flight.”

A lot of people stay at jobs they don’t like simply because they like the team they are working with and that is about it. Unfortunately, great co-workers do not pay the bills.

7 “Very Bad Place To Work”

“Very bad place to work, no work-life balance, people are rude and wouldn’t say this was the best company to work for. The union members all have a chip on their shoulder and hardly go outside the box.”

Unions can be tricky, and there are people out there who love them and those who hate them. This employee definitely does not like them.

6 Lots Of Lay Offs

“Bad management, downsizing just like every other airline. Don’t even know if they are still hiring, 150+ laid off in the last 12 months.”

Another thing that is really important to employees is job security. They want to go into work every day not having to worry about getting laid off and struggling.

5 Be Prepared To Kiss Up

“They had horrible break room conditions. You got higher up in the ladder by kissing up. Even if you work hard, they’re only worried about how many credit cards you opened.”

Of course, a company wants to make money and have their business doing well. However, that should never come at the expense of your employees' happiness and comfort in the job.

4 Constantly Monitored

“You are strapped to a phone your entire shift. You are constantly monitored with managers listening in on your calls. You deal with complaints all day from all over the world. I’m not sure there was anything enjoyable about the job.”

This person obviously worked in a call center for BA, and no one likes to be watched all the time over their shoulders.

3 Only Care About The Money

“British Airways is an airline that only cares about making a profit.”

Like we said earlier, a lot of companies are really concerned with making money. It is how they are able to stay in business. However, they need to have an understanding and appreciation that it is their staff and customer service that keeps the money coming in.

2 It Has All Gone Overboard

“Very poor management and not a good company to work for. I have learned that when it comes to making money it doesn’t matter about the customers' needs anymore…just how to make money and continue to make it. I know it is important, but it has gone overboard.”

Another comment about how bad the management team is. Seems like BA knows that they need to fix.

1 The One Good One?

“Great experience. Taught me how to deal and talk to different people from different backgrounds as well as cultures.”

It seems like someone was able to find the positive in their experience working with BA. Maybe everyone needs a bit of the positivity that this employee has. He probably has the one good manager.
