It happens with cruises, airfare, and resort status, and we all need to make the ultimate decision: The Bahamas or Mexico? While this is such a first-world problem, there's no denying that the new year is coming and with it, many vacation choices.

Anyone from parents to just-barely-legal teens will soon be making the choice to go somewhere sunny and warm on spring break, and we've got the tea on both.

Each has its own 'pros' but to be honest, we're rooting for those Caribbean islands with the pink sand beaches we've heard all about.

It's not that Mexico is lesser than the Bahamas - it's just that they offer different things, including some pretty vacation-worthy facts worth noting! Here's why we're booking the big islands instead.

20 For Starters, The Language Is Universal

Many don't immediately think of the fact that the Bahamas shares our language and while most people do understand and can speak basic Spanish, sometimes, it's nice to just not worry about it. English is universally accepted in the Bahamas, so no matter what the issue, you'll be in the clear.

19 There Won't Be Any Bad Surprises When Drinking The Water

A major 'oops' moment usually occurs when tourists go down to Mexico and realize that they shouldn't have had that frozen margarita. Anything, from a glass of water to ice cubes, can be questionable if it's not coming from a bottled water source. Outside of the resorts, that source is anyone's guess.

18 There's No Need For A Money Exchange, Currency Is The Same

Mexico also has a different currency from the US and while we might be able to get away with this at the resorts, it's a different story once outside of them. Going shopping in town might not be as simple as pulling a twenty or a credit card out of your pocket.

17 There Are Any Number Of Gorgeous Beaches To Choose From In The Bahamas

Mexico has some stellar beaches as well, but the Bahamas is known for its sparkling coastline. After all, they are essentially a group of islands. If serious beach time is what you're seeking, the Bahamas is sure to deliver from palm trees to jewel-toned waters.

16 Paradise Island Is Worth The Trip Alone

Paradise Island is only 180 miles off the coast of Florida, which means getting to it is a breeze. It's an easy, quick, and relaxing vacation with no need to cross international borders or stress over a long plane flight. Plus, it's absolutely stunning, which always sweetens the deal a bit.

15 It's Much Easier To Travel To And From The Bahamas

Speaking of which, travel is much simpler when planning a vacation to the Bahamas. It's a quick plan trip from anywhere in the Southeastern US, but it's also easily accessible by boat - and by 'boat', we mean a cruise! The Bahamas are a popular destination spot for many of them, and you can relax the entire way.

14 Snorkeling Or Scuba Diving Are Great Ways To Explore The Islands

In fact, this is what they're known for. With crystal-clear waters and a plethora of marine life, there's no shortage of things you can experience. We're not saying jump in the water with sharks, but if that's your calling, it's definitely an option.

13 A Trip There Can Be More Family-Friendly, With More Activities

Mexico is known for being quite the party destination, especially for spring break. College students don't book vacations to Cabo for no reason and this atmosphere can be tough for a family trip. The Bahamas is a bit more laid back and more open to all vacationers.

12 Authentic Bahamian Food Is Unlike Any In The World

We're not even just speaking in terms of seafood. While it's as fresh as can be (as in caught maybe an hour before it's consumed), the Bahamas is known for its traditional food, too. From fried conch to rum-based drinks, there's nothing you'll miss about home.

11 The Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival Is Worth Checking Out

If you're looking to experience culture and adventure on your trip, make sure to plan it anywhere from the end of April to the end of May. That way, you can catch the Junkanoo Carnival! This giant party celebrates live entertainment, amazing musicians, and Bahamian cultural traditions.

10 The Islands Are Rich In History, Which Surprises Many

If you thought that the Bahamas were just a vacation-going island, you'd be wrong. It's actually a place that's rich with its own history, from pirate thieves to monuments and museums celebrating various historical landmarks. The Columbus Monument and the Long Island Museum are must-visits.

9 Shopping Is Out Of Control, A Full Wallet Is Necessary

It's only natural to feel the pull of needing to buy something simply because you're on vacation. But in the Bahamas, you'll actually want to spend money on these things. From unique clothing to hand-made items, there's so much more than just touristy gifts.

8 If All Else Fails, Go See The Swimming Pigs!

And by swimming pigs, we mean actual swimming pigs. These water-bound cuties are specific to Exuma, and many have flocked to this island's coast to see them. You can even swim with them, if you're so inclined - but a selfie is a worthy memory!

7 Island-Hopping Is Sure to Bring About An Adventure

It's easy enough to do in the Bahamas. Since the islands are so close together, many start on one and end their trip on another. With a bit of planning, it should be a stress-free process, especially when there are so many charter boats for easy transportation.

6 Pink Sand Beaches Are The Stuff Dreams Are Made Of

The amazing thing is that these beaches are true to their photos. The sand obtains its unique coloring from a combination of broken shells and coral, giving it a unique pink hue. Harbour Island is said to be the best and most vibrant.

5 They Have Entire Festivals... Dedicated To Food

It's true. If you love eating - and most of us do - the Bahamas has a little something for everyone. Food festivals are easy enough to find and provide the chance to try something new and different. For those interested, the All Andros Crab Fest and Eleuthera Pineapple festivals are the most well-known.

4 Dean's Hole Is Well-Known To Thrill-Seekers

Dean's Hole is quite the adventure for those who are looking for it. The cool thing is that you don't actually need to scuba dive in order to see this world-famous diving location. While its depths are quite significant, it's deep enough to be seen from its surroundings, making it a cool landmark in general.

3 Have The Chance To Visit The James Bond Thunderball Grotto

Many fans of James Bond might recognize this famous location, as it was once used as a set. Tourists will have the chance to visit this interesting natural cave, and can also swim in its depths. It's a unique experience and one that shouldn't be missed out on.

2 The Glass Window Bridge Is Worth A Stroll For An Epic Sight

We bet you didn't even know the Bahamas had so much to offer than beaches, and the Glass Window Bridge is yet another awesome destination. With cliffs on one side and beach on the other, visitors have the chance to see where the ocean meets the sea.

1 For Nature-Lovers, The Bahamas Is Home To Three National Parks

From hiking to crystal-clear natural pools, the Bahamas is home to three national parks that are worth taking a stroll through. Forget the gym at the resort and hit one of these trails instead... We promise you won't be disappointed in the destination or the journey!
