There's nothing better than a hot plate of pasta. Whether it's cold outside or you're just in the mood to eat some spaghetti or penne, you're never going to say no to this delicacy.

Since 1982, when the inaugural Olive Garden location opened its doors in Orlando, Florida, people have been going to this popular chain in order to get their carb fix. Since there are so many restaurants in the U.S. (145 in 1989, according to The Daily Meal), this is a common place for lunch and dinner.

But there are a lot of people who have had some less than great experiences eating there and they've taken to the Internet to share.

Here are 20 photos posted by people who were not satisfied with their dining experience at the Olive Garden.

20 Slimy Chicken... Yum

You know that when someone describes their chicken as "slimy" it's not a good meal.

According to someone's review on Yelp, they ate at the Olive Garden and said, "Ordered the chicken and shrimp carbonara for $23.99. The shrimp was edible. Chicken was coated with a slimy layer of what I believe was batter."

19 If You Want Wet And Cold Food, Eat Here

Another person who wasn't satisfied with their dining experience at the Olive Garden said that they ordered zucchini bites, mozzarella sticks, and stuffed mushrooms, and it was really gross. They said that it was wet and cold, which should never be used to describe any type of food at all.

18 Salad With A Side Of Tongs In The Sink

According to this person's review on Yelp, they actually noticed that the tongs that are used for salads at the Olive Garden were in the bathroom. They wrote, "I had a salad that came with my meal. I enjoyed that at least until I went to use the restroom and I saw a pair of their tongs sitting at the sink."

That doesn't seem like a great idea...

17 Dry Pasta Plus Overdone Chicken Doesn't Equal A Good Meal

Someone else ordered pasta and chicken at the Olive Garden, probably assuming that was a totally safe choice, but the pasta was super dry and the chicken was overdone.

This is even more disappointing since that's something that you could probably make at home and it would be a lot more delicious.

16 This Guest Got Food Poisoning After Zucchini And Tilapia

When you go out to lunch or dinner and want to order something healthy, you figure that you can't go wrong with some vegetables and fish.

Well, someone ordered zucchini and tilapia at the Olive Garden and it didn't work out too well. They actually got food poisoning, which is definitely the worst.

15 Don't You Love Dessert That Tastes Like Soap?

When you go out to dinner and want a nice meal, it's always a good idea to order dessert. And ordering a chocolate dessert is always going to be a wonderful idea.

Well, someone who dined at the Olive Garden posted on Yelp that their dessert tasted like soap. That doesn't sound like a very sweet ending.

14 These People Were Disgusted Before Even Trying The Dishes

According to this Yelp review, there was another group of unsatisfied customers: "Didn't even wanna touch the dishes with their looks...yucky!!!!"

From the unappetizing salmon and broccoli in the photo on the left to the clumps of pasta and weird shrimp on the right, it doesn't look like an awesome meal.

13 Shrimp Scampi... Or Shimp Zero Taste

Speaking of shrimp... When this person ordered Shrimp Scampi at the Olive Garden, they didn't have such a lovely dining experience.

They wrote on Yelp, "And the taste, well let me just say that it was tasteless to say the least! I should have just gone into Chipotle next door and would have gotten my money's worth."

12 This Woman Found Paper In Her Bowl Of Soup

Oh yes. This actually happened: a woman was eating at the Olive Garden and found paper in the bowl of soup that she had ordered.

So delicious... Maybe this is a secret ingredient that more restaurants should include? (Just kidding. No one wants this to happen to them, of course.)

11 The Salad Isn't A Good Choice, Either (And This One Had Plastic)

Thanks to this Yelp review, we know what a really gross and lackluster salad looks like. As this person posted, they ordered a salad at the Olive Garden and, "the salads that are not fresh AND the burnt plastic hole that forced me to throw them away."

It's super strange that the plastic container has a massive hole in it. What happened when this was getting packaged?!

10 People Love The Free Breadsticks But This Looks Worse Than Ever

A lot of people talk about the free breadsticks that are part of the dining experience at the Olive Garden. According to The Daily Meal, "The chain, with its unlimited salad and breadsticks, is ubiquitous across America."

But this photo, which was posted on Reddit, really doesn't look like it's worth the free breadsticks.

9 Do You Like A Dinner That Isn't Even Cooked Completely?

You expect a few things when you go out to a restaurant. You want to have a nice meal, a nice time, and get a chance to unwind from your day. You also expect that when your dinner or lunch arrives at the table, it will actually be cooked all the way through.

Well, that's not what happened here, and as we can see from this photo on the left, the food looks really gross.

8 Cheesecake Shouldn't Be Hard (Or Make Someone Ill)

Do you love cheesecake? If you do, then it probably seems like a better idea to eat it in restaurants since it can be tough to make at home. A lot of recipes often include creating a water bath in your oven and that can be complicated.

Well, this person ordered a cheesecake at the Olive Garden and said that it was hard. That's not what you want at all.

7 This Pasta Is Basically Swimming In Oil

It's absolutely crazy to see the amount of oil that is swimming on the plate in the photo on the left. That is just not okay. How could someone make that, let alone put it on the plate and bring it to the customer? We have a lot of questions, but we're glad that we didn't have to eat it.

6 This Five Cheese Marinara Looks Icky

When you hear that a pasta dish has five types of cheese in it, it's tough not to jump for joy, even if you look kind of silly. (But this is pasta that we're talking about so how silly can you really look?!)

But... thanks to this photo posted on Reddit, we know that there is such a thing as too much cheese (at least if you're ordering pasta here).

5 Want Some Hair With Your Pasta?

From this photo that was posted on Yelp, we can see that this woman's pasta came with some hair in it. That is just so gross and so unacceptable.

This makes us wonder about cleanliness standards. Is it too much to ask that you could go out for dinner and order food and not have it come with hair?

4 This Guy Found That IRL, The Food Was Nothing Like Promised

When someone has a great (or bad) experience, they tend to want to talk about it, and that's why Reddit can be such a good place to share your likes and dislikes.

This guy posted on Reddit that when he ordered this Meatball Pizza Bowl, the IRL experience wasn't as pretty or delicious as the picture seemed to suggest.

3 And This Lasagna Fritta Looks Rock Hard

Lasagna Fritta sounds delicious. According to the website, this dish includes "fried parmesan-breaded lasagna, topped with parmesan cheese and marinara sauce, with creamy alfredo."

Actually looking at this photo of when someone ordered it, though, totally takes our appetite away. It looks rock solid.

2 If You Order Chicken Gnocchi, They'll Forget The Gnocchi

This is so hard to even imagine but this person ordered Chicken Gnocchi at the Olive Garden and posted on Yelp, "The chicken gnocchi had no gnocchi."

Yup, it's safe to say that this person didn't enjoy their experience at the Olive Garden. We don't blame them.

1 This Pregnant Woman Got Rock Hard Pasta Plus Dirty Food

Another case of someone dining at the Olive Garden and actually finding a hair in their meal, this pregnant woman posted this photo on the left and shared that her pasta was hard.

That's not the texture that you want... and based on these 20 photos, we'd say that we're totally making our pasta from home from now on.
