It was quite the season in the NHL, with new teams emerging to prominence. Finally the Penguins were ousted by the eventual cup winners, the Washington Capitals. Ovechkin in particular had himself quite the summer alongside the Stanley Cup. He also managed to attend the World Cup back in his native land of Russia. Ovie was among several NHL stars from Russia to make the trip for the World Cup Festivities.

Alex wasn’t the only busy body during the summer. Although NHL players tend to be tame with their personal lives (compared to other athletes), more and more players are now starting to share their experiences. Now Sidney Crosby doesn’t have IG but it was recently unveiled that he toured Europe during the off-season. With the Pens not going on another lengthy run he finally found the time to enjoy different countries in Europe. We’ll discuss which places he decided to visit, along with showcasing other player destinations. Among the players we include on the list are Connor McDavid, PK Subban, Erik Karlsson, Carey Price and many, many more.

Enjoy the article folks and like always be sure to share it with a friend. Without further ado here are 20 of the top destinations these NHL players have traveled to most recently. Let’s get started with arguably the league’s top player, Sidney Crosby!

20 PK Subban – Capri, Italy

After lots of speculation it was finally confirmed that Subban and Vonn are in fact an item. They took their relationship to the next level this past summer enjoying time together in one of Italy’s most stunning locations, Capri. The couple enjoyed some of the finest restaurants while sightseeing at various locations. Italy seems to be a popular choice among various athletes. LeBron James and Jimmy Butler were among the popular names to book an Italy trip this summer. We also have some other NHLers that took to European destination – we’ll feature them a little later.

As for other places he visited, Subban returned to Montreal working alongside various charitable causes. Although he left Montreal he continues to make a difference in the community – he’s a great athlete but perhaps an even better person.

19 Connor McDavid – Cabo, San Lucas

It was a tough season for Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers. Despite a strong campaign the year prior, the Oilers went back down to reality finishing at the bottom of the standings. Despite the lack of help, McDavid still managed to lead the league in points. Given the stress of the season matched with his efforts, the guy needed a lengthy vacation and that’s exactly what he took.

Among his notable stops was some relax time on a beach at the popular Cabo, San Lucas destination – a spot athletes and celebrities love to book for holidays. Connor enjoyed some well deserved relaxation time alongside his partner Lauren Kyle.

18 Artemi Panarin – Clearwater Beach, Florida

In the midst of various trade rumors Panarin didn’t help things one bit by taking a trip to Clearwater Beach, Florida. No, he wasn’t visiting WWE legend Hulk Hogan who lives in the area.

Instead Artemi visited a couple of his fellow buddies from Russia, Tampa Bay stars Nikita Kucherov and Andrei Vasilevskiy.

Kucherov jokingly mentioned that Artemi should consider living the Florida lifestyle permanently. Surely this didn’t help the rumors one bit. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the forward, however staying in Ohio seems unlikely at this point. New York seems like another possible destination for the skilled sniper.

17 Auston Matthews – Laguna Beach, California

Following a brilliant 40-goal rookie campaign, Matthews took to Laguna Beach, California alongside teammate Frederik Andersen. Despite various injuries Matthews had another stellar campaign last season – however by the looks of it he decided to take it easy this time around enjoying some family time back at home in Arizona. Coach Mike Babcock visited the Leafs star in order to strengthen their bond over the off-season and put potential issues in the past.

We hope Matthews got some good rest time because it’s going to be one heck of a year in Toronto. Since the signing of Tavares the team’s expectations have driven all the way up to the top of the league. Auston needs to be on his A game heading into the new season.

16 Mitch Marner – Paris, France

Speaking of the Leafs, we now turn our attention to another young star, Mitch Marner. Most Leaf players had a busy off-season - heck despite all the chaos surrounding Tavares, he managed to get married in the midst of it all.

Marner on the other hand saved this trip for the earlier portion of 2018. He took his partner to Paris, France celebrating her birthday – not a bad gift at all by the Leafs playmaker. As for the summer, we hope Marner got lots of rest, as like Matthews, he’s in for quite the year with mammoth expectations attached to his name. If things go well maybe he’ll think about taking another mid-season trip...

15 Sidney Crosby – Wimbledon, London

He turned 31 this summer, so calling him “Sid The Kid” may no longer apply. Crosby has also played lots of hockey in the last couple of seasons due to the Pens' lengthy post-season runs. All of this might suggest that Crosby would want a relaxing summer. However this wasn’t the case as Crosby was all about the traveling life according to his interview with the Pittsburgh Gazette;

“I enjoyed the European vacation. I was basically just sightseeing,” Crosby said. “Got to do some pretty cool stuff and get away a little bit. It was the first time in a couple summers that I was able to go on a vacation. It was nice to get away and see a different part of the world and unwind.”

Among his top pit-stops included an appearance at the Wimbledon tournament.

14 Tyler Seguin – Ibiza, Spain

Tyler Seguin is another star NHL player with an uncertain future. The talented player made the headlines for his comments made about being disappointed with contract talks. So what’s the perfect remedy for a young player stressing out? Well, a trip to Ibiza, Spain can definitely do the trick!

Tyler took to Ibiza alongside his closest buddies. He also enjoyed some sightseeing in Barcelona, Spain.

Without a doubt he relieved quite a bit of tension booking such a trip. Given his vacation history Tyler is definitely a sun-lounger and a pretty big party guy as well! Seguin isn’t the first nor will he be the last athlete to visit the destination – it remains one of the most popular athlete attraction destination spots.

13 Vladimir Tarasenko – Rome, Italy

During the 2017 off-season, the St. Louis Blues' top goal scorer took to Rome, Italy for a sightseeing trip. Among his pit-stops included the stunning Fontana Di Trevi. Rome is never a bad option, whether it be for sightseeing purposes or enjoying a delicious meal.

Tarasenko might have been feeling a little different this off-season. He ended the year on a sour note needing surgery to repair a nagging injury. For that reason relaxation time was likely the top priority. He fulfilled this obligation, booking a trip to the beautiful Turks and Caicos destination.

12 Evander Kane – Venice, Italy

Evander Kane joined a lengthy list of athletes to book a trip to Italy. Similar to Jimmy Butler of the NBA, Kane booked an experience in Venice, Italy. This wasn’t his only European stop however. The Sharks forward also visited London along with a hot spot for athletes, Mykonos, Greece. NBA stars Draymond Green and Dwight Howard are other athletes who recently took to the Greek location.

Going back home from these experiences isn’t all that bad considering that he’s now playing for the San Jose Sharks out of California. He exceeded expectations last year and he’s hoping for a similar run for the ‘18-‘19 campaign.

11 Taylor Hall – Bahamas

So what kind of trip does the NHL’s MVP desire? Hall unveiled the answer via his social media account. Alongside his mom and dad Hall took to the Bahamas. The trip was in celebration of Mother’s Day weekend. Not only is he one heck of a player, but he’s got some great values as well.

Let’s hope Hall got some great rest coming off of a career year. The player put the Devils on his back leading them to an unexpected play-off appearance. He’ll be hoping to duplicate that MVP magic during the upcoming season. If all goes well maybe he’ll head back to Barbados in 2019!

10 Erik Karlsson - Balmedie, Scotland

There isn’t an NHL player who had a summer as stressful as Erik Karlsson. Not only is he in the midst of various trade rumors but he also made the headlines for some controversy pertaining to his wife. Thankfully the Sens D-man managed to get away from it all taking a trip in early July to Scotland.

He enjoyed some precious golf time alongside fellow NHLer Niklas Kronwall and former NHLer Ryan Whitney. Karlsson enjoyed the experience at the Royal Dornoch Golf Club.

He might be packing his suitcase one more time during the NHL season with rumored deals to Vegas and possibly, Vancouver.

9 Tomas Tatar – Santorini, Greece

He loves to travel during the off-season, booking several resort destinations of luxury in the past. He also took to the stunning Santorini destination most recently positing various photos to his IG account.

He knows a thing or two about traveling for pleasure, however it was a different story for business. Tatar played for one team up until last season when he was traded from Detroit to the Vegas Golden Nights. Although it is a beautiful city Tatar didn’t have the best start in and out of the lineup during the team’s play-off push. With James Neal out of the picture Tatar is hoping to step up and score the goals for the team in his absence.

8 Dylan Larkin – Monte Carlo, Monaco

Speaking of the Detroit Red Wings, we take a look at the vacation life of the team’s leading point getter. Back in 2016 Larkin enjoyed the highest of highs coming off of a brilliant rookie campaign. In celebration,

Larkin enjoyed the finer things life has to offer in the beautiful Monte Carlo area. Dylan posted a stunning shot of his view from the hotel he was staying at.

After a struggling sophomore season Larkin found his game last season. Recently signing a new contract worth over $30 million, he’ll be able to enjoy lots more vacations down the road. However with such a deal he’ll also have a lot of pressure to lead the team down the stretch.

7 David Pastrnak – Prague, Czech Republic

During the 2017 off-season, David returned back to his native land of Czech Republic. Among his most noteworthy stops was a sightseeing visit at the Old Town Square – a great tourist attraction area in Prague.

The young forward enjoyed a terrific year coming off of a large contract extension. In celebration of the new deal and personal success, David booked a trip to Marbella, Spain. The Bruins player enjoyed his stay at the Plaza Beach Hotel. The Boston forward took the trip alongside some of his buddies. Safe to say he’ll be charged up for the upcoming season.

6 Claude Giroux – Turks & Caicos

“Happy Valentine’s Day to my beautiful fiancée. Finally get to spend a V-day together.”

It was a special trip for Giroux taken earlier in the year. As captioned in his IG post, Claude finally enjoyed a Valentine’s Day alongside his partner. Giroux went all-in taking a quick trip to the lovely Turks & Caicos.

The Flyers captain deserves such a trip. He’s among the most underrated players in the league. Few tend to notice but Claude finished the year second in the league for most points, just behind Connor McDavid.

5 Nathan MacKinnon – Monaco

Unlike Giroux, this guy definitely wasn’t underrated last season. Nathan lit the league up with a terrific season. Had it not been for an injury, Nathan would have likely taken home the honors for league MVP given his season with the Avs.

He likes to keep things quiet when it comes to his off-season vacations. However back in 2015 Nathan couldn’t help but to post a stunning shot of himself on a boat in Monaco. His IG post reads;

“Haha myself and Monaco. Trip of a lifetime!!”

Isn’t it a breath of fresh air to see an athlete grateful for a trip? NHL players are among the most humble dudes in the sporting world.

4 Jamie Benn - Indio, California (Coachella)

Unlike teammate Tyler Seguin who visited Spain alongside some of his buddies, Benn instead opted for a California trip alongside his lovely partner. Benn attended the popular Coachella music festival. He was among the various athletes that attended the festivities.

The captain of the Dallas Stars typically travels during the summer months. However with the fall approaching, he’s now back in Texas getting ready for the next season to begin, with training camp looming. The expectation is for the Stars to make the post-season. That only happens if the Dallas captain is on his game. Hopefully the Coachella Festival did him some good!

3 Gabriel Landeskog – Newport Beach, California asked a variety of players for their plans during the winter break. Some just stayed at home and enjoyed some relax time. Landeskog instead wisely decided to leave from the cold Denver climate and enjoy the warmer climate in Newport Beach, California. We definitely can’t blame Landeskog for the vacation decision.

Given his on-ice season, Gab definitely merited the break. Not much was expected from the Avs last season. The team managed to overcome anyone’s expectations with an unlikely play-off position. The Colorado captain was a huge part of the team’s success last season. He’s hoping for a similar year this upcoming campaign.

2 Carey Price – Kelowna, British Columbia

During the off-season, Montreal’s goaltender loves to head back home to British Columbia and enjoy some of the simpler things life has to offer, like time on the ranch or just enjoying some time by the water alongside his wife and daughter. This off-season was no different as the Price family headed to BC. Among one of their stops, Kelowna, BC.

We hope Price enjoyed some valuable relaxation. It looks as though it is going be a stressful year in Montreal given the lack of direction with the team. The only way the team stands a chance is if Price stands on his head throughout the season. He’ll need to be perfect for the Habs to have any type of success – given Price’s game when he’s dialed in, this isn’t out of the question.

1 Connor McDavid – Amsterdam, Netherlands

“Enjoying Amsterdam! What a cool city. Where should we head next?#Eurotrip”

We said it earlier in the article, it was a busy summer for the league’s top player. He didn’t just enjoy the Cabo beach, but he also toured Europe as of May. Westminster was another stop along the way. McDavid and his girlfriend also enjoyed a brief stay in one of the most romantic parts of Europe: Paris, France.

In late June McDavid tried out some fine wines taking to the Amizetta Vineyard and Winery. After such a busy summer we believe McDavid is more than ready for the season to commence.
