Even though we're well into summer, it's still not too late to plan a nice vacation for the end of summer or the beginning of fall. In case you want to take a trip to a nice place, but can't choose where to go, TheTravel is here to help you! We know that before choosing a destination that you will like, you need to answer a simple question: What are you looking for in your next vacation? For example, would you like to spend it at a beautiful place and even find yourself sharing a beach with a famous person? Or do you prefer to take a trip to an overcrowded, littered, and overpriced location? Any person in their right mind would choose the first option, amiright?

Below you'll find a list of locations a number of celebrities choose to spend their vacations. All these places are beautiful. They feature first-class services and wonderful amenities. You might have the best vacation of your life there and meet someone famous as a bonus!

However, the world is also full of places, where you might think to run into a celebrity or just have a good time, because it's a famous vacation spot. Sometimes, when you go to one of such places, you have no idea that it's actually overrated and doesn't live up to the hype. For this reason, in the list below you can also see a number of cities that are best to avoid, while planning the vacation of your dreams.

So are you ready to make a map of your future travels and meet a celebrity?

20 Great: Cannes, France (Jay Z and Beyoncé)

Cote d'Azur in general and Cannes is particular is a famous vacation spot among celebrities and there're lots of reasons why. Luxury hotels, marvelous views, and wonderful sea... What else is needed?

Beyoncé and Jay-Z are only two of the stars you can spot in the French Riviera. If you were in Cannes in the beginning of July, you could certainly see the famous couple along with their kids there.

Other celebs, who like visiting the French Riviera are Bono, Vanessa Paradis, Elton John, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, and many others. Besides, there's also the Cannes Film Festival, so if you come to this popular resort at the right moment, your chances of spotting a celebrity will get even higher!

19 Overrated: Hollywood, California

Many people think that Hollywood is a great place to spot celebrities, but it's actually not the best one. First, you don't have a 100% chance to spot someone famous there. Secondly, it's always better to meet a celebrity when they're in a good mood to give you their autograph and have a brief chat with you. If you happen to run into them in Hollywood, they are likely to avoid you and other fans, because they work there. Hollywood is like their office.

Besides, there's actually nothing to do in Hollywood. According to a number of travelers, even the Hollywood Boulevard isn't that spectacular. So you're safe to skip this destination.

18 Great: Kauai, Hawaii (A-Listers Hot Spot)

Hawaii is a celebrity hot spot, but it can be hard to select a particular island (there're 8 of them in the state of Hawaii) to share a beach with a celebrity. If this is what you want from your vacation, we suggest you to choose Kauai. Hawaii's 4th largest island, it's known for heavy celebrity traffic. Book a room at one of the luxury hotels, eat at coastline restaurants, do horseback riding, and get some spa treatment, because at all these spots you can run into someone famous!

FYI, the list of celebs, who frequently come to Hawaii, includes Britney Spears, Charlize Theron, Will Smith and Cameron Diaz. Ready to meet them?

17 Overrated: Phuket, Thailand

Phuket is one of the most touristy islands in Thailand and it's one of the reasons why you won't be able to find a celebrity there. There're just too much people on this resort for a famous person. As we should understand, celebrities don't like crowds. So if celebrity hunting is the main goal of your trip, Phuket isn't a good choice.

Actually, Phuket isn't a good choice for many other reasons, as well. I mean, are celebs the only people, who don't like crowds? I don't think that you'd like to share a beach with tons of other people, either. Besides, Phuket is extremely overpriced and polluted.

16 Great: Bali, Indonesia (Pink and Carey Hart)

Even though Bali is popular among tourists, as well, it's still much better than Phuket, because you can find a myriad of nice and quiet places on this island. Some celebrities realize this simple fact and come to Bali with pleasure to get some rest, swim in the ocean, and meet friendly locals.

For example, this summer some the tourists in Bali were happy to run into Pink, her sports action star husband Carey Hart, and their two kids. According to the singer, this vacation was unforgettable, so they're likely to come back there someday. If you want to meet them (or some other celebs), book a trip to Bali and keep your fingers crossed!

15 Overrated: Times Square, New York

Times Square in New York has a similar reputation to Hollywood, because many people expect to meet celebrities there. But for the same reason, New York isn't the best place to go celeb hunting. Just like Hollywood, New York is like a workplace for most A-listers. They don't go out too often and tend to avoid crowds of the NYC streets.

Besides, Times Square doesn't have as many interesting things to offer as you might expect. There's a lot of garbage on the street and crowds of people move to and fro all day long. Many travelers claim that they felt overwhelmed there and even found it hard to move around at times!

14 Great: Lake Como, Italy (George and Amal Clooney)

Celebrities love visiting Lake Como in Italy for a myriad of reasons. According to Chrissy Teigen (who got married to John Legend in Lake Como), "You can take a boat up the lake, you can do these little excursions, you can wear sandals with a dress and go eat the best Italian food of your life." Isn't it a dream place?

George and Amal Clooney also love Lake Como. The couple even owns two wonderful villas and they spend a lot of free time there. So if you visit Lake Como, you might run into them or any other celebs, who like Italian resorts (such as Madonna and Brad Pitt).

13 Overrated: Bondi Beach, Sydney, Australia

Bondi Beach is one of the most popular (and most overrated) beaches in the world. Over 2 million people visit it annually, so you can imagine the crowds.

It's safe to say that Bondi Beach is a tourist trap, where locals do their best to get some extra money from the visitors of Australia. Besides, due to a large number of tourists, the beach doesn't look like paradise at all. On top of it all, walls of the buildings surrounding the beach are covered in poorly made graffiti and local authorities don't even do anything about it.

Do you think a celebrity would like to go to such a place? In fact, no person in their right mind would want to.

12 Great: Bora Bora, French Polynesia (The Kardashians)

Bora Bora is considered to be the crown jewel of French Polynesia and it frequently attracts famous people, who want to have a luxurious vacation and get away from the crowds. Among other A-listers, Bora Bora was attended by Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux along with their friends Courtney Cox and Jason Bateman. And these days, it was selected as a preferred vacation spot by the Kardashian clan. One of their trips to the island was even documented for their TV show.

So if you want to go celeb hunting on your trip and feel that you're ready for a relatively expensive vacation, come to Bora Bora!

11 Overrated: Loch Ness, Scotland

If the celebrity you want to spot on your trip is the monster living in Loch Ness, you might want to go to the infamous lake and try to find it. But the truth is... you shouldn't. You won't find the Loch Ness monster, nor run into any famous people.

Even though some people see romance in Loch Ness due to the wonderful natural surroundings and mysterious legends, there's little romance left there. The place is overridden by shops selling useless goods and figures of the creature that supposedly dwells in the lake. Besides, there's a busy road nearby that will certainly distract you from enjoying the views.

10 Great: Cabo San Lucas, Mexico (Jennifer Aniston And Co)

Jennifer Aniston repeatedly claimed that Cabo San Lucas is her favorite vacation spot. The actress spends most of her vacations there and she doesn't do it alone. She frequently takes her friends with her. Thus, the Friends star spent a vacation there after marrying Justin Theroux, while her best friends Courtney Cox and Jason Bateman came along with them. Most recently, Aniston visited the coastal town to celebrate the New Year's Eve together with all the same people, as well as Emily Blunt and John Krasinski. I bet all of them spent a great time there!

Doesn't it make you want to celebrate the next New Year's Eve in Cabo San Lucas, too?

9 Overrated: The Leaning Tower of Pisa, Italy

Even though Italy is a wonderful country and it's loved by a number of celebrities, not every spot on this beautiful land is as good as Lake Como, Portofino, or Florence. Let's take Pisa, for example. Isn't it one of the most overrated vacation spots in the whole world?

Other than seeing the famous leaning tower, there's nothing to do in Pisa. Besides, this tower is not even as tall as you might think and the popular photo tourists make there looks ridiculous.

So do yourself a favor and choose another Italian destination, whether you want to run into a celebrity or just have a nice vacation.

8 Great: Skiathos Island, Greece (Goldie Hawn And Family)

Goldie Hawn along with her longtime partner Kurt Russel and children Kate and Oliver Hudson like to spend their summer vacation in Greece. They even have a private home on Skiathos island. This year, the family celebrated father's day there and, as usual, enjoyed their stay and shared a number of family shots on social media.

But Goldie Hawn and her family aren't the only famous people you can run into in Greece. Sarah Jessica Parker, Sophia Vergara, Johnny Depp, Robert De Niro, and a number of other celebs also like this beautiful country. Visit its popular resorts and you'll have a chance to meet at least one of them!

7 Overrated: Stonehenge, England

Stonehenge is one of the biggest mysteries in the world. We still don't really know how it was built and what its purpose was, even though there're a number of theories and suggestions about it. Until these days, it attracts thousands of tourists every year, who come to take a look at the huge stones... and go back in an hour or so.

Just like Loch Ness in Scotland, Stonehenge is located right near a busy road, which kind of ruins the entire mystical atmosphere. The stones are actually not as big as most tourists think and they're also damaged. Besides, you won't even be able to approach the stones to take a better look at them, because the place is roped off.

6 Great: Ibiza, Spain (Shakira and Gerard Pique)

Another hot spot for celebrity hunting, Ibiza is a great place for the travelers, who like to enjoy their seaside vacation and have fun. A lot of celebs like to spend time there and you should keep it in mind, if you want to go to this popular resort. For example, you might find yourself sharing a beach with Shakira and Gerard Pique, who frequently come to Ibiza and even own an apartment on the island.

Other A-listers you can spot during your vacation in Ibiza are Anne Hathaway, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Paris Hilton, and a number of others. I'm telling you, while you're sunbathing on the beaches of Ibiza, you might even get tired of seeing so many famous people around!

5 Overrated: Paris, France

Paris has long been considered the most romantic destination in Europe (if not in the entire world), but these days have passed. It's visited by thousands of tourists every year and this huge amount of people takes its toll. Now the capital of France seems to be more of a tourist trap that features overcrowded streets, overpriced goods, and littered roadsides.

Besides, if you want to see the red windmill that has become synonymous with Paris (we're talking about Moulin Rouge, of course), you should also expect less of it. Some visitors of the show say that it became "more of a second rate high school variety show than the fabulous dance spectacular one would expect." And, of course, Nicole Kidman isn't there...

4 Great: Antibes, France (Leonardo di Caprio)

But France is the country of your dreams, don't feel disappointed and choose Antibes over Paris. If you haven't heard of it before, it's a commune in Provence, Southeast France, and it's a place packed with celebrities! Among others, you're likely to run into Leonardo DiCaprio there, who likes to have a well-deserved vacation with his model girlfriends on this resort.

It's no wonder why Antibes is so popular among celebrities and other people, who can afford a vacation there. It features first-class services, beautiful clean beaches, wonderful climate, and numerous sightseeing options. So if you're ready for an A-lister-style holiday under the sun, book a trip to Antibes!

3 Overrated: Hong Kong, China

Have you ever wondered why apartments in Hong Kong are so teeny tiny? One of the main reasons is the incredibly high population density in this megalopolis. Since over 7 million citizens live there and millions of tourists visit it every year, they must do something to fit all of these people in one place.

Now imagine having a walk in a city like this. Actually, you don't even have to imagine. Just take a look at the photo above. Would you like to find yourself in this huge crowd of people? I know I wouldn't and I'm pretty sure it's one of the reasons why A-listers don't visit Hong King.

2 Great: Punta de Mita, Mexico (Lady Gaga)

In 2011, Lady Gaga put Punta de Mita onto celebrity friendly travel map and since then numerous A-listers visited this resort. Among them there are Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Hilary Duff, Kirsten Dunst, Charlie Sheen, and Mario Lopez. If you'd like to run into some of these people or other celebs who'll happen to share a beach with you, think about going to Punta de Mita.

After all, there're so many cool things to do there. You can try surfing and catch a few waves along with your favorite A-lister. Or, you may go snorkeling, scuba diving, or just lie on the beach and look around.

1 Overrated: Las Vegas, Nevada

Believe it or not, most celebrities prefer quiet vacations and tend to avoid loud parties. After all, being on the radar all the time is rather tiring. For this reason, A-listers usually avoid places like Las Vegas, if they want to take some rest.

Of course, you can still run into one or two celebrities in the Sin City, but going there only for the sake of it isn't rational. Besides, keep in mind that even though everything about Las Vegas looks bright and fun, today it lacks the authentic culture it used to have in the past, because everything you see there caters to tourists.
