When it comes to travelling, flying is usually the fastest option. Since flying can be kind of expensive, people are always looking for the cheapest route to their destination.

They will search and search for the cheapest airline and try and book with them. This is not always the best idea. Sometimes, it is better to splurge a little bit if it means comfort and safety.

There are airlines out there that will guarantee you a good flight, but it comes with a hefty price tag. Then there are airlines that are cheap, but even though you are saving money, your comfort (and safety) may be at risk.

We are going to go through the 10 airlines that we should all avoid with every ounce of our being, and 10 that may be worth the splurge to make our vacations great.

Let's start with the 10 we should all avoid...

20 RyanAir

RyanAir is an airline that is based in Dublin and it is considered a low-cost carrier. This airline follows the principle of ‘you get what you pay for.’

Their seats do not recline, which means you are forced to be upright and cramped the entire flight. There are also no reserving seats on this airline.

19 Iberia Flights

The main thing that customers complain about when it comes to Iberia flights is customer service.

Passengers state that seat comfort, food quality, and staff disposition are all things that are put on the back burner when it comes to their flights. They also say that meal service is often rushed.

18 China Airlines

China Airlines is known for not being the safest airline, and there is not one airline that is cheap enough to make anyone risk their life.

Since the launch of the airline in 1959, there have been 760 fatalities. The majority of them happened from the late '90s until now.

17 United Airlines

United Airlines has had its time on the news, and it is not for a good reason. They have a horrible track record of leaving passengers stranded due to delays.

The US Department of Transportation actually fined them over a million dollars in 2013 due to the never-ending delays.

16 American Airlines

There is almost too much wrong with American Airlines to list. In the year 2013, only 78% of flights managed to land on time.

They also overbooked numerous passengers, and they managed to have 205,060 lost or damaged baggage claims. They have joined forces with US Air, which also has a pretty bad reputation.

15 Air China

We have another airline from China on our list. Air China is getting a bad reputation for air quality on the plane.

This airline is only about 30 years old, but it has a lot of negative feedback. Their flights rarely arrive on time and no one seems to follow the no smoking policy, including the pilots.

14 EasyJet

When people buy tickets on a cheap airline, we are sure they are not expecting champagne and caviar, but they are expecting something.

There have been a lot of complaints with EasyJet. Including passengers checking in to the gate, only to find that their seat was given to someone else due to double-booking.

13 Bulgaria Air

Bulgaria air is a relatively new airline, but they have had more problems than airlines that have been in the air for years.

Bulgaria Air has had 10 of its fleet skid off the runway. This happened at 20 different airports. Passengers have also said that flight attendants will refuse to give passengers water as well.

12 Air Koryo

The odds are good that you won’t be flying this North Korean airline, but if you do, be careful.

Most of its planes are not even allowed into foreign airspace because of safety problems. They do not properly fix their planes, just put a band-aid on it and hope it fixes itself.

11 Uzbekistan Airway

This is another airline that not a lot of people will find themselves on, but you never know. Don’t be tempted to fly this airline.

Since the airline was founded in 1992 there have been 3 accidents that have reported 54 fatalities. Passengers also complain about bad food, no entertainment, and dirty toilets.

And here are the 10 worth every dime...

10 Qatar Airways

Now we are on to the best airlines, the ones you should want to splurge on. Qatar Airways comes in at the top spot for airlines.

They now travel to 140 destinations all over the world. They are known for their excellence in service when taking people on business or personal trips.

9 Singapore Airlines

Singapore Airlines is another airline that you need to fly on at least once. They are one of the most respected travel brands around the world.

They have one of the youngest fleets of planes which means that passenger safety is never compromised. Their planes also travel to over six continents.

8 ANA All Nippon Airways

This is an airline that is not that well-known, but it is Japan’s largest airline. The airline was found in 1952 and it has over 80 international routes and 110 domestic routes.

Their Frequent Flyer Program, ANA Mileage Club, has more than 29 million members. It is clearly well-loved.

7 Cathay Pacific Airways

Cathay Pacific Airways is based out of Hong-Kong, and it is also on the list of the best airlines. This airline has passenger and cargo services.

They travel to over 200 destinations in Asia, North America, Australia, Europe, and Africa. No matter where you want to go, they will have a flight for you.

6 Emirates

Emirates has always had a reputation for being one of the best, and they still are which is why they are on this list.

They were founded in 1985 so they are a relatively younger airline. They have more than 230 planes and fly to over 140 destinations. They have over 1, 5000 flights leaving Dubai every week.

5 EVA Air

EVA Air was founded in 1989 and is a member of the Star Alliance, which means they are one of the best.

EVA Air serves a community that wants to travel from Asia to Europe, North America, and Oceania. They operate out of an airport that is based in Taiwan. If you are in Asia, this is the airline you want.

4 Hainan Airlines

Hainan Airlines may not be one of the most hear about, but it is one of the best.

They were founded in 1993, and by the end of June 2018, they had over 400 aircraft in operation and 24 branch companies. Their network covers countries all over the world and they are known for their outstanding customer service.

3 Qantas Airways

It seems like a lot or our airlines are out of Asia, both the good and bad, but we have a different one.

Qantas Airways is one of the best and they are based out of Australia. They are also a founding member of the Oneworld airline alliance. Qantas is now Australia’s largest domestic and international airline.

2 Lufthansa

If you are looking for an amazing European airline, then Lufthansa is the one for you. They are based in Germany, and they are the country’s largest airline.

Lufthansa is one of the five founding members of the Star Alliance. Their primary airport is Frankfurt Airlines, and they are definitely one to try if you are in the area.

1 Thai Airways

Thai Airways is another alternative to the horrible Asian airlines we read about earlier. They were founded in 1988 and they are also a founding member of the Star Alliance.

They fly to 84 destinations in 37 countries and they have over 90 airplanes. The company slogan is “Smooth as Silk” and it speaks very true.
